This week’s Brain Food is about how you deal with problems in your business. That could be in relation to your clients, your employees and maybe in your personal life as well.
I’d like to introduce you to my rule of 50/50 when it comes to dealing with problems. The simple concept of a 50/50 rule is it takes two people to have an argument or a problem to deal with. And the outcome of the 50/50 rule is for both parties to take some ownership of the problem. Both people/parties need to have some skin in the game.
In this YouTube video, I share an actual client story about a problem that happened and how I dealt with the problem using the 50/50 rule. Years later, they’re still a customer. They’re still good friends. They know I have their best interests at heart. They reach out to me whenever they need help with something because they know I’m trustworthy.
If you have a problem with an employee, there are usually two people (or more) involved in creating that problem. Promises were made that were not kept. Situations developed that were never trained for. And the 50/50 rule can diffuse the situation and strengthen relationships.
I hope you will carve out 6 minutes to watch the video this week. Let me know if you like the 50/50 rule and if you already practice this in your business!
